I'm a bit tired of my current guild. It started out really awesome, but our raid leader had to quit WoW due to RL issues and our new one is...meh. Some of you may remember the post I made a few weeks ago about him. He transferred here from another server and a top 100 raiding guild. He is really hardcore and has begun to recruit his friends here from other servers and giving them priority in raid spots. A lot of our former core members of our 10man teams have been replaced.
Anyways. Here's me. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee
What I'm interested in: A "casual-core" raiding guild. I'm not looking for e-peen waggers, gear snobs, or people that raid 7 nights a week so they can get the server first. I'm alliance and really don't want to faction transfer, but I am certainly willing to get off the godforsaken Spinebreaker realm (like 10 horde to 1 alliance or something terribad like that, and also it's pvp eew). I want a guild that values respect above all, and understands that RL > WoW -- and I want a really set-in-stone raiding schedule. I just want to know that I will be expected to raid xyz nights a week at xyz time. It makes my life easier. I'm on the east coast (well sort of) and am not really interested than raiding more than 3 scheduled nights a week. I'd also like to get done with raids at a decent hour since I am a student. (Decent = midnightish, 1am at the latest)
Experience: I have done all WotLK raids except for 25man Icecrown (because we haven't had enough people online to do it). I've done the first 2 bosses in 10man ToGC, but never got to finish, because Mr. Raid Leader replaced me with one of his friends who transferred in.
Meh this was long. If any of you ladies have a guild that needs a resto druid (I have a feral dps offspec also), go forth and comment!
Got a group for UK reg, DK is tanking. Had a ret pali, a hunter, and a mage. I'm healing on my druid I just switched back to resto after trying and failing at the bear tank. People are actually saying hi and talking when we zone in. Seems to be a good sign, IMO. So off we go. 2nd or 3rd pull is a group of 3 mobs. Tank is taking huge amounts of damage and I have to resort to Healing Touch. I never have had to do this, so I go over and inspect Mr. DK to see he has absolutely no defense or avoidance gear whatsoever. Erm.
So would you re-queue right there or stick it out and see what happens?
I stuck it out til after the second boss, after I made comments about the tank having no defense and how hard it was to keep him up, then we wiped on a 4-pull because I don't have an instant heal that hits for 10k and apparently asking for CC from the pali and mage was falling on deaf ears.
Ever since my boyfriend turned me on to Grooveshark, I've been totally nerding out and making playlists for my characters. It got me wondering if anyone else has any musical preferences during gameplay. Also, I need to add some new songs to my repertoire. For example, I listen to a LOT of Queen while raiding on my holy pally. She is a Dwarf, so "Fat Bottomed Girls" is like her theme song XD I know I'm a total dorkus, you don't have to tell me. Other songs that get me pumped for raiding as a holy pally?
- "Save Me" - Queen
- "Keep Yourself Alive" - Queen (why so incredibly on the nose, Queen?)
- "Don't Stop Me Now" - Queen (mostly appropriate because of the scene in Shaun of the Dead lol)
- "One More Magic Potion" - Ensiferum (these guys are AWESOME. It's like VIKING ROCK or something. Most of their songs are about elves and goblins and magic potions anyway, so extra geek points, but OMG METAL WITH FLUTES AND STUFF)
- "Savior" - Rise Against
- "DOA" - Foo Fighters
- "Hearts Burst Into Fire" - Bullet for my Valentine (just fast-paced popmetal...it makes me happy)
- "Living on a Prayer" - Bon Jovi
- "Don't Stop Believing" - Journey (I hardly think this one should be left off of any playlist lol)
- "Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangsta" - Geto Boys (this one just tickles me. Dwarf paladins are totally gangster, guys. I don't know if you knew)
So now I'm feeling all exposed and nerdtastic, so for the love of god, please tell me I'm at least not a lonely nerd. What songs do you listen to while playing? What makes them just perfect for your character or your gameplay? Do you even listen to music while playing? Gimme some new material, guys! I'm always up for checking out new songs and artists <3
Italian Sausage Vegetable Soup
I found this recipe in a Pillsbury Slow Cooker book, edited to be with chicken instead of pork, and doctored it up a bit. Hope you enjoy…
½ lb. spicy chicken sausage
28 oz. chicken broth (homemade, if you can!)
1 cup sliced fresh carrots
1 large baking potato, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 (15 oz.) can garbanzo beans or chickpeas, drained
1 (14.5 oz.) can of chunky tomatoes, undrained (plain, Italian spice, or with green chilies)
1 ½ cup water
½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1 bay leaf
1 cup julienne-cut (2x 1/8 x 1/8 inch) zucchini
¼ cup grated fresh Parmesan cheese, if desired
Cook sausage, casings removed, in large skillet until no longer pink, stirring frequently. If excess amount of oil, drain.
Add chicken stock to skillet and scrape to deglaze pan. Pour sausage and stock into crock pot.
Add carrots, potato cubes, garlic, drained garbanzo beans/chickpeas, tomatoes with liquid, water, Italian seasoning, and bay leaf. Stir to combine.
Cover pot and cook on low setting for 6.5 hours.
After 6.5 hours, remove bay leaf and add julienne zucchini. Cook an additional 30 minutes or until zucchini is tender.
To serve, lade soup into individual bowls. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
One 3 lb chicken
3 carrots scraped, quartered lengthwise and cut into one and a half inch pieces
3 ribs celery, trimmed, split and cut into one and a half inch pieces
2 or 3 turnips, trimmed and cut into one and a half inch pieces
1 cup leeks, white section only, quartered lengthwise and cut into one and a half inch pieces
1 fennel bulb, cut into 1/4 inch slices
1 zucchini, trimmed, quartered and cut into one and a half inch pieces
5 cups chicken broth
1/4 cup rice
salt, pepper, French chervil for taste
1. Truss chicken and place in a narrow pot; it should fit snugly ... cover with water, add carrots, celery, turnips, leeks, fennel and zucchini. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and drain well.
2. Return to pot, add chicken broth. Add all vegetables except zucchini. Simmer 20 minutes, uncovered. Add zucchini, simmer 5 minutes, skimming from top periodically.
3. Add rice, salt and pepper, cook until chicken is tender, about 10 minutes.
4. Untruss chicken, cut into serving size peices, serve in four hot soup bowls with rice and vegetables. Garnish with fresh chervil.
I've made this (without the fennel and chervil
because I don't ever have any around ... I'm lucky when I remember to buy a leek and the turnips for this one ... I've substituted potatoes for the turnips with good results).
My question is: This is an easy recipe for a weekend, but it would be kind of nice to have it waiting in the crockpot when I get home from work. Will it work if I toss the vegetables and that much broth in the crockpot? Should I adjust the broth amount or cut the veggies bigger? And what about the rice?
Thanks for any ideas!
There is a very specific fix, but you have to follow the steps exactly.
( Blizzard's Fix )
2.) DPS during the instance, even if healing needs to be done. If you help us kill things faster then you will need to do less healing!
3.) Don't stop and drink. Seriously you're making this take way too long. Just wait until someone dies and res them. If you never cast a heal you'll never have to drink since you don't have enough DPS spells to go OOM.
4.) Just spec ret. Glitterstorm heals. Instant cast flash of light. Judging more means more heals too, right?
<3 the level 15 ret paladin in your RFC, and the level 59 Death Knight that inspected you while you were buying a glyph.
- They don't stop DPS when the Devourer of Souls casts Mirrored Soul
- They stand on Hadronox's poison clouds
- They don't move Urom out of the Frost Bomb (Actually, what people don't know about Oculus could be its own topic.)
i'm starting to feel very confused lately. i've been using the dungeon finder loads to do some emblem grinding and for as many people that love my heals there are also just as many that run-off at the mouth hating on them. let's talk about the latter... what's kind of strange is that i've had more than one of the anti-me people ask why i'm using rank 1 spells (which i'm not, and have double-checked). the kicker is that in most of these dungeons where i am "fail healing" there are no deaths or wipes - and it's infuriating.
alas, it bothers me. and i wonder if there is something that i am missing. i was hoping some you wonderful peeps could take a look at my armory for any glaring stat mistakes or the like. i'm at a loss.
www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml
i have no problem at all healing with my guild raids, but i think it's also a comfort thing. yet, i still want to be able to live up to the expectations of a pug... /sigh
Then you bitched when I told you that your attitude disqualified you for the next campaign. So sad, too bad. It did. You were a jerk, and I am a game master, and I do not need the stress of straight-up jackasses in my game. There's the door, don't let the knife on the doorknow hit you in the prostate on the way out.
Then people decided, since one of our core players is out of action indefinately with cancer of the intestine and liver, to play Star Wars. Which I also run, and everyone said they had fun with the last campaign. (The final session was a fight with long-running enemies that happened the same day of the Battle of Endor; everyone got a chance to be heroic and do great things, including the guy who threw himself into the battle droid, expecting to die along with it, but was saved at the last moment before falling into the reactor core. Really, it was dramatic as all hell.)
Then you sent a 'detailed description' of how I am an 'incompetent game master' to the email list, including things from Eberron and Star Wars, and claiming stuff from my house rules as being proof of it. (I don't care you want to play an Illumian from Races of Destiny; I think the race is stupid as a concept and I don't want them in my game.)
Yeah, screw you. You're a bad gamer, a bad RPer (why are all your characters bisexual nymphomaniacs, anyway?), and that last part shows you're moving to being a bad person.
( what the crap is this )
Incoming angry rant:
If you don't like the way people are treating you, get the hell out of the dungeon. Don't make an ass out of yourself in return, because it doesn't matter anymore how shitty they they've been - your reaction was awful and I'm actually what-the-fucking about that and not your dungeon right now. Saying that you'll "will rape you in the face with your knife," is not only a poor reflection of your character as a human being, but you know what? I'd kick you too. And I would report the hell out of you for that threat you made.
Allow me to say that uh, throwing words like "rape" around flippantly and using them in such a manner that it's a threat is. Never. Okay. What on EARTH was going through your head when you said this? I don't freaking care if your dungeon was horrible and they treated you badly - I get into pugs like that all. The. Time! And I LEAVE. I don't get herp-a-derp vote-kicked because I was saying unkind things - because I don't say them. People treat you terribly. Then what? You LEAVE the situation. End of story. Because your behavoir is reportable and just horrible in relation to theirs
Yeah, I have no sympathy. Sorry.
TLDR: What the hell is wrong with some people?Edit: I was mad and...probably should have waited until I was calmer to post. =/ Guh.
Edit two: man, I feel hella bad posting this now. :(

The tanks have been interesting. Thus far I have found warrior and pali tanking to be far easier than bear tanking, especially for multiple mobs. I looked up tons of info before I tried tanking on my bear again even though I'd done alot of it pre-Wrath. One of my best friends plays a bear tank and I have run countless heroics with him and he is always frustrated with his performance and now I can see why. Just seems a mad scramble for control. I am wondering if anyone else feels this way...?
So in a nutshell I think the druid is my favorite healer and the pali my favorite tank, though I could see the warrior bringing up a close second if I stick with leveling her. Any other altoholics taking advantage of the LFG system to level non-dps specs?
I started at 60 without having actually played my warrior since level 15 or so, thanks to the power leveling. We did some quests in hellfire to get somewhat of the hang of it, and then stuck ourselves in the new low-level LFD. omg it pops SO FAST when you're a tank/heal combo. So we got thrown into Ramps the first few times, and I sucked of course, but I'm slowly starting to get better, and I think I've turned into a decent little tank. Decent enough that now we're saying we want to level exclusively through LFD, and not quest anymore. (They'll hit 80 without having the 100 quests completed achievement, which I find hilarious.)
It's nice too, because I get comments from people about how nice it is to actually have a warrior specced prot and tanking low-level, since they almost never see that. Yeah, I'm LOVING leveling this way, and I'm really enjoying tanking as well, surprisingly.
But, I want to be a good tank, too. I was wondering if any of you have advice for a lower level prot warrior?
This is my armory:

I'm totally willing to respec if my spec is wonky or anything, too. I think I've been doing pretty well, but I only glanced at my friends 80 prot warriors spec, and sort of just threw points where they seemed right. Copied glyphs off that person, but I have no idea if they're right, either -- and now that I look, I have shockwave glyphed, but I haven't been using it. Should I be?
And, just for fun, how has the new LFD been treating YOU in lower levels? It takes me a lot longer to get in with my DPS I know, but I've had mostly good groups. Any fun stories?
While I am not the most hardcore of players, I do raid on my protection warrior and love it. I've toe stepped into ICC 25 man only to be crushed by Lord Marrowgar and have been working on getting my gear up to snuff. My first ICC 10 man will hopefully be later this week.
ToC 25 man last night finally let go of it's shield, so I bid farewell to my beautiful Royal Crest of Lordaeron for the coffin top.
My question is simple: how important is hit rating to a tank? As of right now, mine is terribad. (For legality, armory link)
It seems funny how I struggle to get hit on my warrior when my shaman is so much over cap.
( story here )
I wanted to put up a positive post because most of the time I think of posting its more on the negative side.
What great experiences have others had raiding for the first time or joining new guilds?
Edit: put in lj-cut, let me know if it doesn't work.

I went horde today, leaving behind the horns and hooves of sexiness to take up the belf mantle which is also sexy but just missing the space goat appeal. However that is not what I am missing most! I miss my white hippogriff (silver covenant hippogriff) the most!
More so than anything else. The dragon hawk just doesn't do the same level of squee for me.
Side note: anyone have trouble with their UI/mods after changing? My mods seem to be having endless errors since I faction changed and while farming rep in ICC, my frames suddenly dropped from 35fps to 2fps. And then all my mods bugged out. Restarted wow and they've bugged out again. I really hope a repair is not in order.

If you have a warlock and you use Necrosis you have probably noticed that the "Shadow Trance" vocal cue hasn't been working, even though the addon has been updated since the last patch. This has something to do with what triggers the alert... I read up on it, but I can't explain it properly, and to be honest I don't feel like I need to know the particulars of the issue. I just want that ominous voice to keep chanting "Shadow Trance" in my ear. ( Read more... )
Are all servers like this or can anyone here offer up a suggestion as to which server we should be looking at instead?
